I can handle the abuse - Saminović

Montenegro striker Nenad Saminović is confident he can handle the sickening homophobic taunts that could be in store for him during EuroCup '12.

Saminović, who plays in Italy for Presamo, declared he was gay shortly after leaving English club Barnsworth in 2010.

"I don't really care to be honest," said Saminović, "Football comes first and I try to ignore the taunts as much as possible."

Despite his best efforts to ignore the taunts on the pitch, Saminović supports the anti-homophobic campaign which encourages to stop the fans' gay bashing and advises more and more footballers to reveal their sexuality.

"It shouldn't matter if the footballer is gay or straight, they're human beings at the end of the day," said a spokesman for Kick Out Homophobia.

Saminović is set to be the only openly gay player in this summer's EuroCup in Russia, although Toni Schmidt managed Switzerland in the tournament four years ago.
